BURIAL: POPLAR SPRINGS CEMETERY IN MENDENHALL
VISITATION: 5-8 PM MONDAY AT OTT AND LEE IN RICHLAND
Vera Jean Avery Butler, 87, passed from this life on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Briar Hill Rest Home, into eternal presence with the Lord, following her lengthy struggle with dementia. Visitation was Monday, September 20, 2010 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland; and Tuesday, September 21, 2010 beginning at 1 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland. Funeral Services are 2 pm Wednesday from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Richland with burial to follow in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall, MS. Bro. Ed McDaniel will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Harris, Jason Harris, Preston Harris, Jason Butler, Jonathan Butler, Joseph Butler and Honorary Pallbearer Landon Creel.
Mrs. Butler was born February 17, 1923 in Ft. Smith, AR to Alfred W. & Hazel
Chandler Avery. She grew up in Ft. Smith, AR, where she met her husband of 42 years, the late James Truett Butler, Sr. She was a resident of Richland for 60 years and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Richland until the onset of her illness. Mrs. Butler will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great- great- grandmother and friend.
Survivors include her children, Bonnie Ann Harris and her husband, Frank of Florence, MS, James Truett “Jimmy” Butler, Jr. and his wife, Wanda of Brandon, MS and William David Butler and his wife, Linda of Florence, MS; 12 grandchildren, 20 great -grandchildren, and 2 great -great -grandchildren.
We want to give a special word of thanks to the precious folks at Briar Hill Rest Home for their loving support and care.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Richland or The Gideons.
