Vera Tillman

Vera Atkinson Tillman, age 91, of Forest, MS, after a courageous battle with cancer went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 6, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Brandon, MS.
Services were held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest, MS at 2pm, Thursday, March 9, 2017. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 5pm-8pm and again an hour prior to the service on Thursday. Graveside services followed at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Lawrence, MS.
Vera or “Tuck” as she was lovingly called by some, was born on August 6, 1925 to her parents, Ervin J. Atkinson and Mae Atkinson in Lawrence, MS. She graduated from Newton High School in May, 1943 and soon thereafter married the love of her life, Otis L. Tillman. She was the mother of two sons and a daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ervin J. Atkinson and Mae Atkinson, her loving husband Otis L. Tillman, husband Howard Bounds, her sister Peggy Carpenter, her brother E.J. Atkinson, her son Gerald (Jerry) Tillman, her daughter-in-law Dottie Tillman and son-in-law Bobby Pace. She is survived by her son Larry Tillman of Richland, MS, her daughter Joyce Pace of Brandon, MS, her sister Eloise Rush of Pascagoula, MS. Her seven grandchildren; Jerry Tillman,II of Forest, MS, Jason Tillman (Joni) of Forest, MS, Josh Tillman (Katie) of Forest, MS, Tonya Greer (Sam) of Chattanooga, TN, Justin Tillman (Trisha) of Richland, MS, Todd Pace (Brook) of Brandon, MS and Jay Pace of Brandon, MS and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was a sweet, special lady that loved without measure and had a smile for everyone. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be missed more than words can express.
The family would like to give special thanks to all her health care providers, Dr. William Lewis and staff for their many years of care, and Sta-Home Hospice, Meghan, Lindsey, Angie, Ilydia and Ms. Rita to name a few. They will always hold a special place in our hearts for the care and love given to our mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to your favorite charity or Sta-Home Hospice, 406 Briarwood Dr. Ste. 200 Jackson, MS 39206.

Pallbearers were Jerry Tillman, II, Rev, Jason Tillman, Josh Tillman, Justin Tillman, Dr. Sam Greer and Todd Pace. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Brown and Bobby Shoemaker.
