Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Mae Phillips will be conducted at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Ephesus Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

There will be no graveside service.

Visitation will be from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday morning.

Vera Mae Philips was born in Covington, LA on July 13, 1928 and passed away at her home in the Ephesus community on Saturday, March 26, 2016. She moved to this area from Bogalusa, LA over twenty years ago. She was an avid supporter of Southern Gospel Music, specifically with Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Friends; she would travel far and near to attend concerts. Crocheting, knitting, and reading, in particular studying the Bible, were favorite past times, as was camping with her late husband. Mrs. Vera will be remembered for her servant’s heart, loving her children and grandchildren; she loved her step children as her own. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: H.R. Lambert and Donnie Phillips; her daughter: Claudia Wheat; her parents: Howard and Claudia Lee Thompson; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: one son: Buddy Lambert of Forest; one special nephew: Howard Core of Forest; step-children: Charlotte (Truman) Bell of Forest; Donna (Pete) Riser of Forest; Dingus (Debbie) Phillips of O’Brien, FL; Cheryl (Rickie)McGee of Forest; Craig (Mandy) Wolf of Madison, LA; and Lee (Patricia) Phillips of Union; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister: Clara Lloyd of Folsom, LA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Pallbearers will be Will Boswell, Roger Bell, Ben Stewart, Wilson Bell, Gene Boone and Brad Hollingsworth.

Honorary pallbearer will be John Carl Riser.
