Verdie Simmons

Funeral services for Mrs. Verdie Marie Simmons will be conducted on Monday morning, February 22, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Eastern Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be Monday morning beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
Mrs. Simmons was born in Jeff Davis County to her parents: the late Herbert and Lena Stringer Sanders on May 23, 1919. She passed away at the Bee Hive Homes of Forest on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the age of 96.
She was a homemaker, a sweet, kind, Southern Bell, and a longtime resident of the Forest area. As described by her grandchildren, “her family was her world and she loved the Lord.” She was a member of Forest Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Dewitt Simmons; and her children: Ryan Simmons and Kathy Wade. Her parents and all of her siblings also precede her in death.
Survivors include one son-in-law: Chuck Wade of Forest; one daughter-in-law: Donna Treslar of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren: Jason McKnight, Matt Wade, Scott Simmons, and Kacy Simmons; and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forest Baptist Church, P.O. Box 338, Forest, MS 39074
