Mrs. Verhelia L. Clark, 79, of Forest, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services for Mrs. Clark were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013, at the chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest with burial at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ira Bradshaw officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Clark was a native and lifelong resident of Scott County. She was the daughter of the late Dewey Lay and the late Beadie McGee Lay. She was married to the late Jerry M. Clark. Mrs. Clark was of the Baptist faith. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry M. Clark, parents, Dewey Lay and Beadie McGee Lay, sisters, Katie Culpepper and Ozella Madden, brothers, Raymond Lay and Walter Daniel Lay and a grandchild, Shonda Elaine Smith.
Mrs. Clark is survived by two children, Debbie Smith (Lane), Danny Clark (Ellen), both of Forest. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Angie Crocker, Brad Smith, Jerried Smith, Brock Smith, Chris Smith, Adam Smith and Andrew Smith, and 12 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brad Smith, Jerried Smith, Brock Smith, Chris Smith, June Bug Crocker, Zack Crocker, Adam Smith and Andrew Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Sessions and Sherry Lay Horton.
