Verna Mae Farmer Wilson, 87, a resident of Clinton, MS passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at Brandon Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with the interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5-7 pm and again 10-11 am Monday followed by the service officiated by Rev. Darren Miley.
Mrs. Wilson was a native of Glen Allen, MS. She worked as a telephone operator for South Central Bell where she served dutifully for 30 years before she retired. Mae to all who knew her, was a gentle and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her devotion to the people she cared about is the character trait that best distinguished her in life and for which she will long be remembered. To her, family was everything. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Wilson; parents, Charles Farmer and Sarah Bingham Farmer; daughter, Betty Wilmoth; brother, James Farmer and Carl Farmer; and sister, Ruby Farmer.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her children, Helen Barnette, Cathye Wilson and Charles Wilson; sister, Nancy Farmer Parker; brothers, Richard Farmer, Lewis Farmer and Jackie Farmer; four grandchildren, Becky Barnette Chandler, Tommy Barnette, Bert Andrew Wilmoth and Billy Wilmoth; eleven great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
