Mr. Vernon Beatty, age 79, a resident of Polkville went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. His visitation was held 5pm-until Friday, September 2, 2011 at Polkville United Pentecostal Church and from 10am-2pm on Saturday. Funeral service was held 2pm Saturday, September 03, 2011 at Polkville United Pentecostal Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Barron Price, Rev. Jeremy Price, Rev. Ricky Watkins, Rev. Mark Herrington and Rev. Scott Webber officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Beatty was born in Scott County in 1931. He loved bluegrass gospel music. Farming was his life. He had a quail farm, raised chickens and cattle. He will always be remembered for his smile and the love he had in his heart for his friends. He will be greatly missed by his church members at Polkville United Pentecostal Church. The love he had for his Lord will never be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, L.C. Beatty and Cleo Olivia Stuart Beatty; daughter, Teresa Annette Beatty; step daughter, Barbara Reeves Miller; daughter-in-law, Wanda Kay Beatty and sister, Fredna Faye Traxler.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Jean Huff Beatty of Polkville; 3 children, Alburn Beatty and Tommy Beatty (Pam) of Polkville; Penny Hines (Rayburn) of Forest; sister, Frances Phillips of Polkville; brother, Lester Ray Beatty (Shirley) of Polkville; granddaughter, Kaylace Beatty; sisters-in-law, Nellie Ray McDonald, Annette Tadlock and Fleeta Phillips; brother-in-law, Leslie Huff; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Russ Beatty, Rick Phillips, Pete Munn, Timmy Huff, Lee Huff, Douglas Parkman, Ronnie Traxler, Donnie Thweatt and Lonnie Huff. Honorary pallbearer was Howard Stuart, Chucky Huff and Don Traxler.
