Virgil David Batte

Mr. Virgil David Batte, age 65, a resident of Forest passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at St. Dominic Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  Visitation will be held 5-8pm Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 10am-12pm Wednesday at the funeral home.  Chapel service will be held at 12pm Wednesday, September 27, 2023 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Springhill Cemetery.  Bro. Andy Boles will officiate the service.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Batte was born January 8, 1958 in California.  He was a truck driver for King Lumber for many years.  He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army  and served two tours, one in Germany and one at Fort Polk.  Virgil David loved to be out on the water in his  boat and enjoyed fishing.  He enjoyed doing yard work and spending time with his family and grandson.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dave Randall Batte and Minnie Blackwell Breakfield.

He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Lynn Bell Batte of Forest; son, Eric Batte (Amanda) of Forest; 2 sisters, Linda Goodson (David) of Forest and Cynthia Ann Batte of Florida; grandson, Levi River Batte; niece, Melissa Jackson; nephews, Jason Goodson, Ricky Guy and Steven Guy; honorary sons, Scotty Crane, Michael Crane and Ricky Atkinson and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Guy, Steven Guy, Scotty Crane, Michael Crane, Ricky Atkinson and Andrew Sanders.  Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Montgomery, Mark Sistrunk and Wesley Crane.
