Virginia Fortenberry

Virginia C. Varner Fortenberry Brandon, Mississippi Virginia Fortenberry, 92, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015, after a brief illness. She was a faithful member of McDowell Road Baptist Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 PM and Monday, February 2, 2015 starting 9 AM with services at 10 AM at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park South in Jackson, MS. She stitched beautiful needlework, which she loved to give to others, and was an avid reader often saying she traveled many places through the pages of a book. Her life was a Christian example to all through her quiet, humble spirit and her giving heart. We were all blessed to enjoy life with her for so many years. She was preceded in death by two husbands, "Shorty" Varner and George Fortenberry, a son, Jim Varner, a grandson, Jeff Brantley. She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Bob) Posey; grandchildren, Kim (Brian) McCarthy, Karen (Wesley) Simon and Lee (Candice) Varner; five great-grandchildren, Sydney & Olivia McCarthy, Logan & Laney Simon, Savannah Varner; and the Fortenberry Family.
