Mrs. Virginia Marie Franklin was born in Chicago, IL on Wednesday, February 10, 1926 to her parents the late James and Ella Pratt Powers.
She married F.C. Franklin on March 24, 1945. To this union five children were born: Shawn Lindell Franklin, Edmund B. Franklin, Cynthia Ann Grantham, Ella Ruth Franklin, and Francis Lindell Franklin.
A Catholic by faith, Mrs. Virginia’s relationship with her family was of utmost importance. In the professional realm, she was a cook, having worked at Taco Bell, Domino’s Pizza, and retired from Morrison Cafeteria in Columbus, where she lived over 40 years. She was an avid sports fanatic of the game of football.
She passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest at the age of 91.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and three children: Shawn, Edmund, and Cynthia. Her parents and eight siblings also precede her in death.
Survivors include two children: Ella Ruth, of Chunky, MS and Frankie of Memphis, TN; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Virginia’s request, there will be no services at this time.
Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest assisted the family in making arrangements.
