Virginia Roland

December 22, 1935 — August 7, 2015

Mrs. Virginia Sharp "Guy" Roland, age 79 and a resident of Pulaski, MS departed this life and entered into eternal rest August 7, 2015. Funeral services were held at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with Rev. Robert Gatewood officiating and the interment immediately following at the Morton Memorial Gardens in Morton. Visitation was held from 4:00pm until 9:00pm Saturday, August 8, 2015 and again on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 09:00 until 2:00pm prior to the service.
Mrs. Roland was born in Canton, MS to her parents Benjamin and Reba "Tolbert" Sharp on December 22, 1935. She has been a resident of Pulaski for well over 30 years. Mrs. Virginia was employed in the textile industry at the Standwood Corporation in Pelahatchie, MS as a seamstress for over 10 years and she retired in 1998 to enjoy life with her family and friends.
Mrs. Virginia had several hobbies and interest that kept her busy and here are some of the ones she liked. She loved to eat, and loved quilting, crocheting, travelling, gardening, and she was an avid reader and one family member said, "She must have read every book that had ever been printed." Mrs. Roland also loved being a grandma because she loved her grandchildren very much.
Mrs. Virginia Roland was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Roland; parents, Benjamin Sharp and Reba Tolbert Sharp; son, William Guy; grandson Michael Guy; granddaughter Debra Gray; brothers, R.H. Sharp and Davis Sharp; sister, Sadi Lyles.
She is survived by her children, Roger Guy (Brenda) of Pulaski, MS; Eddie Guy of Madden, MS; JR Guy (Billie Sue) of Pulaski, MS and Rebecca Tucker (Byron) of Pelahatchie, MS; one sister, Bertha Jo Cantrell; two brothers, Benjamin Sharp and Ricky Sharp and Cindy Guy the wife of the late William Guy. Mrs. Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love for her 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers serving were Tony Guy, Tanner Guy, Keith Tucker, Brian Tucker, William Guy, Kevin Martin and Honorary Pallbearers were Tyler Guy and Josh Mentz. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Mrs. Virginia Odellia Guy Roland.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton
