Virginia "Ginger" Lambert

October 27, 1959 — October 28, 2018

Pearl, MS

Virginia “Ginger” Ruth Lambert received the ultimate healing from her battle with ovarian cancer on Sunday, October 28, 2018, just one day after her 59th birthday. In her final days, Ginger was surrounded by her family and those she loved most as she ended her courageous fight.

Ginger was born in Tillatobia, Mississippi on October 27, 1959. At the age of 5 she moved to Jackson where she spent most of her childhood with the remaining years spent in the Mississippi Delta. At the age of 16, an ambitious young woman, she transitioned back to Jackson where she graduated early from McClure Academy. From there, she attended Hinds Community College to further her education.

Ginger married James R. Lambert in 1995 and they moved to Brandon, Mississippi.

Ginger retired from River Hills Club in March of 2018 where she served as the Director of Human Resources and Finance for 8 years. In preceding years, Ginger had the opportunity to work for the Clarion Ledger, Peoples Bank, and Mack Cameron Law Firm. The prime of her years were spent raising her children and working with local churches to enhance their music ministries.

In the late 90’s, Ginger and her family attended Brandon Church of God and she was called to serve as Minister of Music directing the choir, praise team, and band.

In the early 2000’s, Ginger was asked to facilitate the setup of praise teams at Crossgates Baptist Church and also lead the youth choir. During this time, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and chose to step down.

A breast cancer survivor, Ginger was next called to Park Place Baptist Church to help lead the band and praise teams.

Ginger was a woman of many talents whose spirit was very contagious. Her faith was strong in her healing Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by Carl Tillman, Rev. Dale Wilson, and Faye Wilson.

Mrs. Lambert is survived by her husband, James Lambert; four children, Shea Thames (Matthew), Brandon Wynn, Virginia Brooklyn Lambert and Meggan Wilkerson; six grandchildren, Eden Thames, Addison Thames, Charleigh Ruth Lambert, Melane Wilkerson, Max Wilkerson and Monroe Wilkerson; sister, Marilyn Tillman Linscheid (Will) and four nephews, Ross Bowen, Robert Bowen, Shane Bowen and Jeremy Bowen.
