Known among her family for her love of cooking, especially her biscuits, Mrs. Vondell loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Favorite past times of quilting, sewing, gardening, tending to her flowers, playing “Scrabble”, and completing cross word puzzles were just a few things that brought joy to her life. To sum up her life, the adjective, determined, would be the perfect description, as echoed by the personal stories shared by her children: Brenda and Junior.

She was a member of Temple Baptist Church at Forest.

Her husband, Albert L. Gibbs, Sr., preceded her in death in 1994. Also, in addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Infant Arville Stroud, Benton Stroud, Amos Stroud, and Elsie Stroud Cooksey.

Mrs. Vondell is survived by her children: Brenda Yarbrough and Albert L. Gibbs, Jr., both of Forest; three grandchildren: Jimmy Wallace, Melissa Pilgrim, and April Wallace; three great-grandchildren: Savannah Pilgrim, Annalise Wallace, and Sydney Wallace; three sisters: Earline (Carlton) Walters of Louin; Bonnie Coleman of Vidalia, GA and Elizabeth (Tom) Shelton of Utica; two brothers: Richard Lee (Tommie) Stroud, Jr. of Jackson and Glenn Stroud of Brandon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mississippi Chapter - 196 Charmant Drive, Suite 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
