Wallace Crotchett

August 13, 1934 — May 12, 2022

Brandon, MS

Wallace Arlen (Arlen) Crotchett passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022, following a brief illness.  Arlen was born on August 13, 1934, to William Wallace and Nellie Burge Crotchett in Creighton, Missouri.  After graduating from high school and studying Economics at the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg, Arlen met and fell in love with Joyce Ann Vickers of Clinton, Missouri.  They were married on June 5, 1955.

Following their marriage, Joyce stood by Arlen as they traveled to Europe where he was stationed in Germany and proudly served in the military until his tour was complete.  Shortly after returning to the United States, Arlen and Joyce were thrilled to be blessed with two children, Lisa Beth and Darren Michael.

Arlen pursued his business ventures motivated only by his desire to be an exceptional provider for his family.  He was driven by an entrepreneurial spirit that led him to open a dairy business in the 70’s, before opening Sunshine Pools and Spas in the 80’s.  After a successful retirement from the pool business in the early 2000’s, Arlen found a new passion in the real estate business. He spent his final years in Brandon, Mississippi pursuing that passion selling real estate for McCaughn Realty.

Outside of his work, his only true loves were his family and the Lord.  Arlen was a 20-year member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he spent time serving and worshiping together with his wife Joyce.  Arlen carried the Good Shepherd spirit into his personal life by leading his family. He was more than respected; he was admired. Arlen was a dedicated father and husband, a true family man that sacrificed so his family could have more. He was a loving and caring husband, a father and grandfather who inspired his children and grandchildren.  Married nearly 66 years, Arlen’s devotion to his wife was clear for all to see.  From their marriage to their parting, he loved nothing more than being with his wife, sipping wine on their patio while fondly remembering the lives they shared together.

Arlen left a profound impression on all he met.  He will be missed by not only his family, but by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his father, William Wallace Crotchett, his mother, Nellie Burge Crotchett, his brother, Dennis Crotchett, and his sister, Louise Buckley.  He is survived by his precious wife, Joyce, his two children, Lisa Crotchett Karmacharya (Anjan) and Darren Michael Crotchett (Cindy), two grandsons, Garrett Michael Lobin and Chandler Justin Crotchett and three great grandchildren, Lee, Acelyn, and Tommy Wallace (T.W.) Lobin.
