Walter Thurman Pace, age 71, a resident of Lake passed away Friday November 23, 2012 at the J.G Alexander Nursing Home in Union following a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 11am Saturday November 24, 2012 from the Hazel Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at the church from 10am till service time. Rev. Chris Wells and Rev. Cliff Pace officiated the services.
Mr. Pace was born in Newton County on February 12, 1941 to Seth Pace and Carrie Gibbs Pace.
He retired as a train engineer from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad in 1980, and was a member of Hazel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Jeanna Michelle Pace.
Survivors include his former wife, Gloria Pace of Lake, two sons, Scott Pace (Lindy) and Eric Pace both of Lake, and a daughter Suzanne Hansford (Steve) of Union. He is also survived by two brothers, James Wallace Pace of Collinsville, and Herman Pace of Jackson, and four grandchildren; Tyler Hansford (Brandi) Emily Hansford, Michael Pace and Alyssa Pace.
Pallbearers were Jerry Crosby, Lewis Crosby, Stacy Monk, Derek Pace, Michael Pace AND Tyler Hansford.
Funeral services were provided by OTT & LEE Funeral Home of Forest.
