Wendy Houp Powers, 60, passed away Mon. March 21, 2016 at her home in Brandon, MS. Memorial Services will be 11am on Thurs. March 24, 2016 at the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS with visitation following from 12pm-1pm at the church.

Mrs. Powers was born in Belzoni, MS, was raised in Hollandale, MS and has been a resident of Brandon, MS for the past 19 years. She was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS and was also active in the Chrysalis, Crossroads, Emmaus and Kairos Ministries. In 2011 Mrs. Powers retired from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. Mrs. Powers loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren play baseball.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Powers; three children, Jennifer Singleton (David), Glenn Powers (Tiffany) and Shelton Powers; five grandchildren, Raini Singleton, Phoebe Singleton, Rylee Powers, Stone Powers and Haven Houston; one sister, Pam Baggett; one sister in law, Barbara Simmons (Joe); two brothers in law, Ben Bolton and Dwayne Powers; many nieces, nephews and one great nephew. Mrs. Powers is preceded in death by her parents, William L. Houp Sr. and Miriam Shelton Houp; one sister, Linda Bolton and one brother, Bill Houp Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Camp of North Mississippi at 414 Blaine Rd. Sunflower, MS 38778 or to the charity of your choice.
