Billy Guy Singleton, age 85, a lifelong resident of Forest died Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest following a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30pm Sunday April 14, 2013 from the Forest United Methodist Church with interment in Eastern Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm Saturday April 13, 2013 at the OTT & LEE FUNERAL HOME in Forest. Rev. Paul McDonald and Rev. Scott Fortenberry officiated.
Mr. Singleton was born in Scott County on September 5, 1927 to Guy Wallace Singleton and Irma Noblin Singleton. He was a quarterback on the Forest High School football team. While he was at MSU he worked for the State Hwy. Dept. later while serving his country in the Army, he held the position of time keeper. Later served as a Boy Scout Leader, and Forest Jaycees. Mr. Singleton was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church. He owned and operated the Singleton Tractor & Appliance Company in Forest until his retirement in 1988.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Glynn Brown Singleton.
Survivors include his children; Ann Singleton Burris (David) of Woodward, OK, Sue Singleton May (Jimmy) of Forest, one sister; Yvonne Singleton Gredler of McDonough,GA and a legacy of 4 grandchildren; Matthew Burris of Tulsa, OK, William May of Forest, Rebekah May of Columbia, MD and Jonathan May of Forest.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Gibbs, Johnny Johnson, James Autry, O.B. Triplett, Tommy Woods, and Bill Freeman. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Dan Thomas, Paul Ryan, Bob Mize, Harold Dennis, Jerry Jones, Henry Allen Mosley and Jimmy Lackey.
