William Batia

November 6, 1946 — October 15, 2015

William “Bill” Henry Batia, age 68, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at his home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Puckett Baptist Church in Puckett, MS. Rev. Shane Brown and Rev. Marcus Canoy will officiate the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Batia was born November 6, 1946 in Biloxi, MS where he grew up and graduated from Biloxi High School in 1964. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served with distinction in the United States Marines Corps. After his tours were complete, he began working for Delchamp’s as a Market Manager and moved his family to Rankin County in 1983 to take a position with McCarty Holman. After retiring, he worked security at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS until his health deteriorated. He was an avid Ole Miss fan and loved the Lord, his family and friends, and his country. The disciplines and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as his family and friends will attest.

Mr. Batia was preceded in death by his father, William Eugene Batia; sister, Becky Ann Batia; maternal grandparents, Henry and Maude Lechner and paternal grandparents, Eugene and Bertha Batia.

Mr. Batia is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sara Batia; four children, Michelle Hall (Steve), Georgia Dotson (Lance), April Brown (Shane) and Billy Batia; his mother, Audrey Lechner Batia, and his sister, Pamela Geiser. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Lauren Dotson, Cole Hall, Zach Hall, Stone Batia and Cannon Batia.
