William Holland, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. William Lloyd Holland, Jr. will be conducted Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with Rev. Kent Grice officiating. Burial will follow in the Vaiden Cemetery in Carroll County with military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, September 30, 2014 from 6 P.M. until 9 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Holland, age 95, a resident of Lake, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2014 at his home. He was a World War II Veteran and served his country in the U.S. Marines as an automatic rifle mark man, platoon sergeant at Okinawa, Hiroshima, and Saipan. He was a Purple Heart recipient twice. Mr. Holland was a member of Magnolia Heights Baptist Church at Lake, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and trapping. He was a family man, which was his “main hobby.” He is survived by his children: Dan Holland of Livingston, TX; Barbara Jean Holland, Charlotte Faye McCann, Ricky Lloyd Holland, and William Lloyd Holland, III, all of Lake; Lisa Marie Mayes of Decatur; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 5 sisters; a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mittie Marie Fisher Holland; parents: William Lloyd and Emma Sue Vinson Holland, Sr.; his children: Clora Ann Holland, James Holland, Laura Joy Holland, and Frankie Lloyd Holland. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve McCann, Gary Mayes, and Robert Hamilton. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest.
