William Raymond Hopper, Jr.

William Raymond Hopper, Jr., 93, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at MS Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be 10am-11am Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with services starting at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Raymond was born in Memphis, TN on October 18, 1930, to William Raymond Hopper, Sr., and Virgie Lorena Downing Hopper. He married his high school sweetheart on July 8, 1950, Bettye Hurley Hopper who preceded him in death in 2017. He enjoyed being a Square Dance Caller between 1975 and 2003. He later retired after 23 years from Milan Express Truckline in 1995 as Vice President of Sales and Operations. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon and formerly Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

Survivors include his children, Becky Platt (Steve), Ron Hopper (Susan), Carol Hopper (Cissy), and Mike Hopper (Daniele); his sweetheart and beloved friend, Kay Baker: brother, Marcus Hopper; sister, Gwen Lee; 7 grandchildren, Lauren Pearson, Jennifer Carrell, Keith Hopper, Kristen Burkhalter, Christopher Hopper, Sydney Hopper and Aiden Hopper; 7 great grandchildren, Kayla, Preston, Emmett, Lillian, Hunter, Hannah Grace, and Lorelei.
