William Norton

William Dewey Norton, 90, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with the interment to be held at Fannin Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11am-1:45 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Norton was born October, 2, 1927 to Sarah Edward Norton and Lena Ethel Beibers Norton. He was a native of Faulkner, MS. He was married to Alice DeJane Brill Norton. Mr. Norton served 33 years with the GM&O/ICG railroad many of those years was as Chief Dispatcher. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church where he enjoyed being a part the Crusaders Sunday School class. He was a member of the Mississippi Craftsman’s Guild and enjoyed making White Oak Baskets. He also enjoyed growing Camellia’s, Roses, fruits and vegetables. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Norton was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Floyd Wilson.

Mr. Norton is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice B. Norton; children, Danny (Kathy) Norton, Rick (Lois) Norton and Becky (Bill) Boyd; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; sister, Sarah Wilson; nephew, Olen (Terri) Wilson and a host of friends.
