William Brantley Purvis, 76, a resident of Pelahatchie, MS died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 3 pm Friday, January 29, 2016 at Concord Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 pm Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and from 2 pm until 3 pm at Concord Baptist Church. Dr. Billy McKay and Rev. LaVern Summerlin will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Mr. Purvis is a native of Rankin County. He was the son of Henry Clyde Purvis and Fannie Decell Stuart Purvis. He was married to Carolyn Everitt Purvis. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS. Mr. Purvis worked for Rankin County for 25 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Purvis was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Clyde Purvis and Fannie Decell Stuart Purvis; sister, Clynett Purvis Walker; granddaughter, Victoria Purvis and daughter in law, Theresa Peets Purvis.
Mr. Purvis is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Purvis of Pelahatchie; son, Dave (Bethany) Purvis of Brandon; granddaughter, Leanna; sisters, Roma Sue (Joe Dell) Thompson of Pelahatchie and Charlene (Leon) Dye of Brandon; brother, Kenneth Purvis of Pelahatchie; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
