William Bowman

William Rayford Bowman, 80, a resident of Pass Christian, MS passed away, Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Canon Hospice in Gulfport, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:15 am Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowman was born in Moulton, AL on September 9, 1939 to William Percy Bowman and Mary Etna Gillespie Bowman. He is married to Doris Stewart Bowman. Mr. Bowman attended Ruleville Public Schools from first grade to twelfth grade, MDJC in Morehead, MS, MSU in Starkville, MS and Phillips College in Jackson, MS and was an electrical engineer. He retired after many years of service. He proudly served his country in the United State Navy during the Vietnam War. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will lovingly be remembered as a “father to the fatherless”. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Linda Bowman; daughter, Linda Carol Bowman; parents, William Percy Bowman and Mary Etna Gillespie Bowman; brother, Lloyd Bowman and his sisters, Mae Lois Collier and Ilava Bowman Rouse.

Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife, Doris Stewart Bowman; his children, Charles (Mary) Bowman, Douglas (Catherine) Bowman, and Lynette Bowman (Michael) Gregg; sisters, Mildred Bowman Cain, and Elaine Bowman (Robert) Jenkins; six grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
