William Robert “Bill” Norton, 70, a resident of Flowood, MS passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with interment in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl. Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home. Rev. Ted Giordano and Rev. Warren Coile will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Mr. Norton was born on May 29, 1945 in Brookhaven, MS. He graduated from the Brookhaven High School in 1963 and attended Mississippi State University graduating in 1968 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He had over 40 years of state service with the Department of Transportation and State Aid. He was a long time member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS and was a 32 degree Mason. Mr. Norton especially enjoyed spending time at the camp affectionately named after his only granddaughter, Camp Caroline in Lloyd Star, MS where he enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bennie and Mae Margaret Norton and his sister, Bennie Sue Norton Thorn.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jonnelle “Jonnie” Spann Norton; daughter, Kristy Norton Embry and her husband, Scott Embry and his 7 year old granddaughter, Caroline Marie Embry and nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
