William Bryan Ward, 86, a resident of Morton, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Mississippi Care Center of Morton. Visitation was held from 4 pm until 7 pm Monday, November 3, 2014 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 11 am Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the funeral home with burial in the Springhill Cemetery in Rankin County. Rev. Tal Vardaman officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Ward was a native of Moore County, Tennessee. He is the son of William Noah Ward and Nell Geraldine Massey Ward. He was married to Betty Wiggins Ward on May 6, 1960. Mr. Ward retired from truck driving after 25 years of service with Tri State Motor Transit. He served his country proudly in the Army Air Force from 1947-1949. He was a member of the Broadmoor Christian Church in Houston, TX. Mr. Ward enjoyed watching sports such as the Atlanta Braves and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents, William Noah Ward and Nell Geraldine Massey Ward and his brother, Tommy Ward.
Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Ward; children, Pat (Bobby) Ainsworth, Mike (Dawn) Ward and Donna (Michael) Smith; sisters, Mary Williams and Nellie (L.C. ) Daugherty; brothers, Nick (Wanda) Ward, Bill (Peggy) Ward and Gerald Ward; sister-in-law, Margaret Ward; grandchildren, Tim Cooper, Bethany Cooper, Marlee Ward, Kevin Smith, Wesley Smith; B.J. (Kayla) Ainsworth, Kristi Ainsworth and Willie Ainsworth; 6 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Serving and honoring Mr. Ward as pallbearers were Bobby Ainsworth, Robert Ward, Jason Witcher, BJ Ainsworth, Willie Ainsworth and Tim Cooper.
