William D. “Sonny” Powell, 82, passed away Sun. Oct. 14, 2018 at Anderson Regional Hospital in Meridian, MS. Visitation will be held on Thurs. Oct. 18, 2018 from 11am-12:45pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 1pm on Thurs. Oct. 18, 2018 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.

Mr. Powell has lived in Brandon, MS since 1982 where he was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking, telling jokes, fishing and boating, and also loved to play the trumpet. Mr. Powell held a variety of jobs throughout his lifetime, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

He is survived by his children, Belynda Bramlett (Jimmy), Sheryl Jean Lytle, William H. “Rusty” Powell and Michael D. Powell (Laureen); special friend, Patsy Ratliff; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Powell is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jean Powell; second wife, Marian Powell; grandson, Christopher H. Powell and a sister, Doris Hopper.
