William Wallace Self

March 26, 1936 — January 7, 2016

William Wallace Self, 79, a resident of Mendenhall, MS died Thursday, January 07, 2016 at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with interment following in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am at the funeral home. Rev. Bruce Case will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.

Mr. Self was a native of Oktibbeha County. He was the son of the late Daniel Oscar and Edna Drummond Self. He worked as a field inspector in the concrete pipe industry for many years. He served his country in the National Guard. He was Baptist by faith and loved the Lord. Mr. Self was a very hard working man who was very unselfish and thought of others before himself. He enjoyed fishing, The outdoors and he especially loved daily walks and car rides with his dog, Queenie and watching sports. He loved people and had an outgoing, funny personality. Wherever he went he interacted with those around him leaving them with laughter and smiles.

Mr. Self was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Oscar and Edna Drummond Self and brothers, George, Scotty and Dan Self.

Mr. Self is survived by his two children, Stan Self and Teresa Swyers; three sisters, Katherine Rice, Kay Johnson and Jean Gibson; three brothers, Joe, Allen and Arthur Self; three grandchildren, Peyton, Lauren and Lindsey Swyers; several nieces, nephews, his special longtime partner, Donna Jones and a host of friends.
