Willie Pruitt Blalock, 81, passed away Thurs. Oct. 27, 2016 at the G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Sat. Oct. 29, 2016 from 5pm-7pm and on Sun. Oct. 30, 2016 from 1pm-2pm at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2pm on Sun. Oct. 30, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Edwards Cemetery in Hinds County, MS.
Mr. Blalock was born in Raymond, MS. and grew up in Edwards, MS. He has been a longtime resident of Brandon, MS, where he was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Blalock was a graduate of Mississippi College and served his county with the U.S Army during the Korean War. He was also a heavy supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and went on many trips to Philmont. Mr. Blalock was a member of the 1957 Championship Football Team with Hinds Community College and was also member of the Hinds Community College Football Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Blalock; four children, Sharron Blalock Mathis (Ronnie), Ashley Blalock Pickel (Trent), Richard David Blalock (Dianne) and Raymond Pruitt Blalock (Debra); sister, Mildred Laubscher; ten grandchildren, Christopher Mathis, Sarah Gilmore, Rachael Mikeska, Donna Dunn, Devin Brummett, Dillon Boyette, Allisa Pickel, Brooke Pickel, Amanda Blalock Taylor and David Blalock; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Blalock is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Algus Blalock; sister, Fannie Mae Walton and a brother, Harvey Blalock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hinds Community College Alumni Athletic Association at P. O. Box 1100 Raymond, MS 39154-1100 or to Meadow Grove Baptist Church at 3221 Louis Wilson Dr. Brandon, MS 39042.
