Winnie Tate Smith, 44, a resident of Jackson, MS died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 7 pm Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 4 pm until 7 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Floyd Steverson and Rev. B.J. McAlpin will officiate the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Hinds County. She was the daughter of Robert Armstead Tate, Jr. and Helen Jane Slade Tate. She was married to Frank Smith. She was a member of Metro Grace Community Church in Pearl. Mrs. Smith loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Armstead Tate, Jr. and Helen Jane Slade Tate; grandparents, Jessie and Lena Mae Downs and Robert and Jewel Tate.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Frank Smith; her children, Brandon (April) Thornton, Paige Thornton, Kory Smith and Kimberly Smith (Joe) Melton; her grandchildren, Braden Cole, Brianna Grace Steverson and Mason Melton; her sisters, Jamie (Tony) Darden, Leigh (Wally) Boone and Amanda (Kevin) Burt; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
