Winnie Faye Thompson, age 81, a resident of Morton passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at her residence. Visitation was held 5-8pm Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 2pm Friday, September 02, 2016 at Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Hodge Hill Cemetery. Bro. Paul Smith and Bro. Joey Smith officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Scott County on July 6, 1935. Winnie worked at Talon for many years. She loved working in her vegetable garden and canning vegetables. Winnie enjoyed cooking for her family and loved her children and grandchildren very much. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Austin Thompson; son, Oscar Thompson; parents, Ruth and Harmon Phillips; sisters, Willie Ruth Adcox and Lula Cauthen; brothers, Hillard Phillips and J.B. Lingle.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Don) Cornelison of Morton, Wayne (Robin) Thompson of Morton and Randy (Judy) Thompson of Morton; 4 sisters, Rose (Lester) Yarbrough of Polkville, Mary Ann Lingle of Springfield Community, Martha (Bartley) Adcock of Whiteoak and Dartha (Norman) Adcock of Whiteoak; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers were Currie Yarbrough, Jimmy Westberry, Chris Adcock, Eric Evans, Lee Lyle and Alex Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Lester Yarbrough, J.T. Thompson, Bartley Adcock, J.W. Thompson, Norman Adcock and Lynn Bates.
