Mrs. Winnie Louise 'Smith' Stevenson, age 96 passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 11:00 am from the Barefoot Springs Baptist Church of Pelahatchie, MS and the interment immediately following at the Barefoot Springs Cemetery with Rev. Grant McEleven presiding over the services with Rev. Bill Prestage assisting. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday October 3, 2016 and again from 09:00 am until 10:15 am on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.
Mrs. Louise was born on April 30, 1920 in Leesburg of Rankin County to her parents, Ohyler and Winnie Steverson Smith. Mrs. Louis was a member of the Barefoot Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing needle work, loved reading, canning vegetables and preserves. Mrs. Louise enjoyed being a hostess to the state law enforcement during some of their functions. And one of her special times of enjoyment was spending time with all her flowers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ohyler and Winnie Steverson Smith; her husband, Lavell Stevenson; and her sisters, Mary Francis Smith, Euna Bowman, Ester Smith; her brothers, Claude Smith, Wallace Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (George) Powell of Bristol, TN; her, granddaughter, Stephanie (Jimmy) Jackson of Bristol, TN; her great-grandson, Alex Jackson of Bristol, TN.
Serving as pallbearers are Gaylon Smith, Ellie Ray Stevenson, Steve Smith, Dusty Smith, Jerry Henry, Larry Smith.
