Alton Ray Langston, 85, passed away Friday, Aug. 1, 2014 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held Sat. Aug. 2, 2014 from 5pm-8pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2pm Sun. Aug. 3, 2014 at the funeral home with burial in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
Mr. Langston was born in Silver Creek, MS and has been a resident of Brandon, MS for 36 years. He was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Brandon, MS and a former member of Truitt Memorial Baptist Church in Pearl, MS. Mr. Langston served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a Major with the Mississippi Army National Guard. He also retired as an operator with United Gas Pipeline Company. Mr. Langston was a member of the John P. Byrd Masonic Lodge in Pearl, MS, and he enjoyed gardening as well. Most of all Mr. Langston loved his family very much.
He is survived by his two children, Charlotte Wynn and Mitchell Langston (Melba) both of Brandon, MS; grandson, Nicholas Langston of Pearl, MS; sister, Alene Scarborough of Richland, MS; brother, Hiram Langston of Silver Creek, MS and many relatives. Mr. Langston is preceded in death by his wife, Dimple Langston and his parents, Van Kirby Langston and Flora Bourne Langston.
