Betty Weems

April 28, 1937 — November 19, 2014

Betty Weems Brandon, MS Betty Weems joined her Heavenly Father in Heaven on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Visitation will at 1pm Friday, November 21, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with the service at 2pm in the chapel. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon. Everyone who knew Betty was so blessed. To know her was to love her. She was the kindest, most gentle person with a heart so big that it was hard to believe it fit inside her petite frame. She was soft spoken and never said a bad word about anyone. Betty was always there for her family, and her friends and neighbors. It didn’t seem that the word “no” was in her vocabulary. Betty loved tennis, both playing and watching it. She loved to play bridge. She had a great eye for decorating and could be called on to make any holiday or special occasion better. Betty never met a stranger of either the two-legged or four-legged variety. She truly loved all God’s creatures, adopting cats, petting dogs and even feeding the ducks that found their way to her door. She will be missed so much by all of us who loved her and were lucky enough to have her in our lives. She is survived by her children: Bryan Weems of Brandon, Julie Barre (Martin) of Devon, England and Jena Ponder (Jimmy) of Brandon; sister, Peggy Brooks; brothers, Rudy Barlow and Jimmy Ray Barlow; grandchildren, Josh Weems, Jessica Weems, Jennifer Turner, Elayne Barre, Cameron Barre, Jake Ponder and Ryan Ponder; great grandchildren: Lexie Burns, Maisie Weems, Lawson Weems, Max Weems, Reagan Weems, Hailey Weems, Dylan Weems and Giles Turner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rankin County Animal Adoption Foundation, P.O. Box 307, Brandon, MS 39043.
