Mr. Franz L. Cowart, 84 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 27, 2014. Visitation is 5-7pm Friday, November 28, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and starting at10 am until 11 am Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Oakdale Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Services are 11 am Saturday at Oakdale Baptist Church with burial to follow in Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery. Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Brandon, MS is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cowart was born on May 25, 1930 in Monroe County, MS to the late Wiley Leon and Priscilla Cox Cowart. He received a B.S. Degree from Mississippi State University. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. For 41 years he worked for Michael Baker, Jr. Inc. and retired as Senior Vice President. He was a Deacon at Oakdale Baptist Church.
Mr. Cowart was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Eugene Cowart and Herbert Cowart; and his sisters, Tula Mae Carter and Lillian Sumerford.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dean Everett Cowart of Brandon; daughter, Pamela Irvin (Douglas) of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons, Franz Larry Cowart (Ruth) of Harrisville, MS and Joe Marlin Cowart (Dallas)of Puckett, MS; grandchildren, Douglas Courtney Irvin (Elizabeth), Shane Adison Irvin (Molly), Jenny Cowart, T. J. Cowart, Shelby Cowart, and Lindsey Cowart; great grandchildren, Gavin Patrick Irvin and Kennedy Cowart.
