Halaine Baer

Halaine Remboldt Baer, age 85, passed away October 19, 2014, in Brandon, MS. Halaine was born to the late Jacob and Agnes (Thoreson) Remboldt on October 13, 1929, in Bismark, North Dakota. She married LaMoyne Baer on July 20, 1954, in Gackle, North Dakota; they were married for 60 years. Halaine graduated from Gackle High School in 1947 and from Valley City State College in North Dakota in 1950 with a teaching degree. She taught school in Tagus, Tolna, and Medina, North Dakota. Halaine and LaMoyne resided in Brooklyn, NY; Ambler, PA; and Ankeny, IA. They resided in Ankeny, Iowa for forty-five years where she was an in-home childcare provider. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the YMCA Penguin Group, and the American Legion Auxiliary before relocating to Brandon, MS. Halaine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roger Bruce Remboldt; her son-in-law, James Connor; and grandson, James Connor, Jr. She is survived by her husband and six children: Sandra Connor, Crestview, FL; Ronald Baer (Dianne) Brandon, MS; Kathy Cook (Steve) Ankeny, IA; Sharon Mathewson (Scott) Niceville, FL; Thomas Baer (Joel’) Montz, LA; Robert Baer (Tina) Raytown, MO; sister Cynara Stadsvold (Cy) Corvallis, OR; sisters-in-law, Joan Remboldt Ryan, Weathersby Lake, MO and LaVonne (Darold) Niccum, Amery, WI; grandchildren, Sarah (Joshua) Solomon, Brian (Laine) Baer, Brett Baer, Zachary (Samantha) Corsbie, Alyssa Corsbie, Ryan Mathewson, Ashlee Baer, Caroline Baer, Maisy Baer, Remy Baer, Jacob Baer, Caleb Baer, and Joshua Baer; great grandchildren, Lily Solomon, Josie Solomon, and Daniel Nieves; along with many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2014, from 9:00 –10:00 a.m. with services at 10:00 a.m. both held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny, Iowa. Pastor Dean Baer will be presiding. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa, at 12:30 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Ronald Baer, Thomas Baer, Robert Baer, Zachary Corsbie, Ryan Mathewson, and Remy Baer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 517 SW Des Moines Street, Ankeny, Iowa 50023; Nativity Lutheran Church, 495 Crossgates Blvd., Brandon, MS 39042, or a charity of your choice
