Mr. Hershel H. Warren
Pulaski, MS
Hershel Henry Warren was born March 29, 1930 to Carrie Harris Warren and Jake Warren in Homewood MS. He was the oldest of three children and affectionately called “Brother” by his two sisters.
The most important things to Hershel were his family, his faith and his home place.
His dedication to his wife of 53 years, Katheryn “Kathy” Viner Warren, was immeasurable. They were able to celebrate their golden anniversary with their children, family and friends. It was a very joyous occasion.
A dedicated father, he worked hard to provide for his family and “train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it” Proverbs 22:6. He instilled in his 3 sons a love of Jesus, a dedication to family and a strong work ethic.
His grandchildren have wonderful memories of learning the “”old ways” from him. They enjoyed plowing with the old donkey, using the hand crank corn-sheller, and collecting eggs from the hens. They also loved learning to drive in the golf cart around the farm.
Hershel was an active member of the Pulaski Baptist Church since 1965 and became a deacon on June 15, 1969.
He proudly served in the Air Force from 1951-55. He is a veteran of the Korean War.
A lifelong farmer, he loved his garden, his “yard” chickens, and his cows. He was also a gifted woodworker and well respected carpenter. His kitchen remodels in the area were very coveted. In his later years, he enjoyed making bird houses and mini-cedar chests. He built beautiful custom furniture for his children and grandchildren. For his two granddaughters, he took special pride in creating custom changing tables that would grow with time as baby gifts.
We are celebrating his passing as a Home Going, and ask that memorials be made to Pulaski Baptist Church Music Ministries and Gideon International.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jacob Wesley Warren and Carrie Bell “Harris” Warren.
Survived by his wife, Mrs. Kathy Warren; 3 sons, Todd Warren (Angela Yates)of Brandon, MS, Brent Warren (Tracy) of Conehatta, MS, Roger Warren of Orlando, FL; sisters, Robbie Stevens of Pascagoula, MS and Nan Ellis (Buddy) of Pulaski, MS; brother Joe Fox of Union, MS.
