Linda Hales

October 11, 1950 — January 5, 2015

Linda K. Hales Pearl Linda Katherine Hales, 64, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at University Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is 4-7 pm Thursday and 10 am Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 11 am Friday at the funeral home with a 2 pm graveside in Mendenhall Cemetery. Linda was born on October 11, 1950, the only child of B. E. and Lorene Wallace Hales. She moved to Pearl in 1959 and was a member of Skyway Hills Baptist Church. Linda would have been a graduate of Pearl High School had she not been in a vehicle accident during her sophomore year. During her childhood, Linda loved dancing, roller skating and later enjoyed traveling to the Smokey Mountains. Because of injuries from her accident, she became a spokesperson for MADD, speaking to high school and college students and was also the first student to enroll in the Addie McBride School for the Blind. Linda enjoyed attending school reunions and in February of this year she moved to Brandon Nursing and Rehab and enjoyed the many activities and residents in her new home away from home. Linda especially enjoyed playing dominoes and cards and was LeAnn Rimes’ number one fan. She simply loved life and enjoyed her many friends. Survivors include her father, B. E. Hales of Pearl, numerous cousins and was preceded in death by her mother, Lorene Hales in 2008. The family request memorials to the Addie McBride School for the Blind, P. O. Box 5314, Jackson, MS 39296-5314.
